Loose dust sprinkles from the roof above Mewtwo. This Garchomp makes no secret of its approach. As it enters the depths of the caves, he sees another king in place of a foolish human. He hates his own body for the innate reaction.[break][break]
Fight or flight.[break][break]
He hasn’t felt this since he was a gabite. Draconic instincts tell him this is no idle opponent. He does not run. Dragons do not run. There is no greater sign of weakness than to willingly show another your back. Instead, he draws up to his full height – taller than any garchomp has a right to be.[break][break]
His thoughts are made plain to a creature like this, should the curiosity take him. They’re not higher thoughts like some other Pokemon. They’re pictures accompanied by ideas.[break][break]
Hunger, accompanied by the stranger’s own flesh.[break][break]
Protect, accompanied by the meek mareep above who call themselves humans.[break][break]
Chase, accompanied by him beating the creature out of the cave.[break][break]
A low growl and a steady spout of drool from the black dragon’s maw convey a wordless message in the pure language of the wild: Leave.

This creature is too human for the dragon’s taste. Curiosity in his eyes is met by a scientific eye. He is studied, like something under a microscope.[break][break]
In his mind’s eye, he sees himself. He is a gible again. Briefly taken into captivity by the humans calling themselves rangers. They look after him. Tag him. Release him into the wild once more.[break][break]
It rouses an all too inhuman fury.[break][break]
Jets in his head begin to power up. A slight tilt of his muscles is the only harbinger of what’s to come. Launching himself forward, he throws himself into the strange creature, all raging and rolling muscles. Behind him is a trail of white, a sonic boom knocking rubble loose.[break][break]
He means to send them both tumbling through that rift. Better to fight in the open space of a sleeping god’s guts than here under the earth.

The blows struck by the creature ring true. Around them is the siren song of a dark sea. A slumbering god’s angels glow in the darkness above them. Vortigern sees the barrier, feels the pummeled power of this juvenile legend.[break][break]
Pain is an old friend to him. Pain defines a monster raised in the wild. Pain is a rite of passage for a beast. Pain spurs him to survive. His powerful jaws clench around one of the corners of the barrier. Thunder gathers in his maw. With all the power of a monster, his jaw clenches. His thunder fang means to tear through the barrier separating him from the threat.[break][break]
“ ▂▂▃▃▅▅ーーー！！”[break][break]
There is no coherent thought in his head. Only battle. Only his desire to show this creature that this place is not for him.

Midnight turns to noon within the sea. Errant fish pokemon turn their heads to watch the brilliant, dazzling display of light. Vortigern is fried, the fine muscles of his body cooking under the sound of thunder.[break][break]
“▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▃▃▃▃▃▃ーーー！！”[break][break]
But even that does not stop this monster. In his rage, he grips the ground beneath his feet. With a flick, he tears up the solid stone beneath them. Curiously, the stone weeps with blood. Its jagged edges rush to meet the unknown creature, a stone edge thrown in the throes of rage.

The blast dispels any doubt in the dragon’s primal mind. This is a worthy opponent. A challenger. From nothing and nowhere it conjures a blast that shatters his innards, launching him across viscous ground. Each skidding step as he stalls his slide evokes a sickening slosh. It’s like he’s wading across pools of pus and flesh instead of solid ground.[break][break]
Distance is no boon in this fight. It necessitates he use every trick he can. If the strange Pokemon is familiar with human technology, it might recognize the sound of jet engines igniting. A soft inhale indicates air is being pulled towards the black dragon.[break][break]
The dragon is upon him again before anyone can breathe. Moving his full speed, there is a maddening grin upon its maw. Human, almost. Manic. Mad. Moving at full speed, the black dragon gives himself over to outrage. He cares not if he is injured. He cares not if he is torn. Such concerns are beneath a dragon. There is only the march ahead. Only the next powerful blow. Only victory waiting just beyond the red haze.

The barrier expands, expands, expands. It comes for the dragon. Perhaps a wiser creature would see it for what it was. They would turn tail, evade, run. A dragon has no need of wisdom, any more than it needs knowledge. It charges headlong into the psychic wall.[break][break]
All of that concentrated power explodes on the bright yellow which once formed the front of his crown. Now, it is merely a torrent of red. Bare skull is exposed beneath. When this rage ends, doubtless he will fall. For now, there is only the battle.[break][break]
This creature is the second being to permanently scar him. The second being he has acknowledged. He wants to consume this being utterly. Through consumption, he will show him love. All of its might will live on as a part of him, forever.[break][break]
But to consume, first he must kill. So while a torrent of red rains down his body, he is upon him once more. His claws strike out. His maw bites. His powerful legs kick. Every iota of muscle, every atom is put towards the purpose of being a killing machine.
